Harry Rhodes

The Forging of a Leader 

Born in Memphis, Tennessee, and raised in Northern California, Harry began his career in the Customer Service and Sales Department at Revo Sunglasses, a subsidiary of CooperVision, Inc., in Palo Alto, California, in 1985. Harry developed the customer service operations and launched the sales team across the United States, earning a promotion to Field Market Account Executive in 1987. Due to his success in strategic sales development in the U.S., Canada, and the Caribbean markets, Harry started his own independent sales agency in 1989. The agency represented several sports-related product lines such as Louis Garneau, Flojos, Kombi, and K2 Ski. He continued working with Revo as a consultant before being elected National Sales Director for Revo Inc. in 1995.

Harry joined Maui Jim Inc. in 1997 as Western Regional Sales Director. He managed and grew sales in the Western region from Pleasanton, California. He was promoted in 1999 to National Sales Director and built an extensive sales force across the United States. He then introduced Maui Jim products to new markets in Canada, the Caribbean, and Latin America. Harry played a key role in expanding Maui Jim’s presence across various channels of trade (optical, golf, tennis, fishing/marine) in North America and developed a versatile sales team. Additionally, he was responsible for managing the expansion of the Australian and New Zealand markets.

In early 2001, Harry was elected Vice President of Sales and Officer at Maui Jim. He and his family relocated to Peoria, Illinois, in September 2001. In his role as Vice President of Sales, Harry built a comprehensive sales infrastructure and was responsible for the significant growth in sales and account service activity for Maui Jim. He managed strategic planning and P&L for the North America, South America, Australia, and New Zealand markets. As these markets grew stronger, Harry continued to oversee the U.S. and South America markets and became a key driver in the development of prescription sunglasses and the new ophthalmic product line.

In 2025, Harry retired from his career and currently volunteers at Elite Community Outreach and is a board member of the organization. He resides in Peoria, Illinois, with his wife, Susan.
